Workbook Help
Start with your numbers. Build a clearer plan.
Simple instructions, practical tips, and answers to common questions about your Taxademics workbooks.
Before you begin: Some workbooks contain sample numbers to demonstrate how the tools work. Replace sample amounts in the designated input cells with your own figures before relying on any results. Review every input tab, including amounts that may not apply to you, and follow its instructions for entering zero or leaving a field blank. Leave formulas, linked cells, and tax-rate assumptions intact.
Get started in five steps
Download your workbook. Open the download link in your order email and save the file. If you purchased the bundle, unzip the download to access the six separate Excel workbooks.
Keep a clean original. Save an untouched copy, then use Save As to create a working copy with your name and tax year.
Read START HERE. Follow the workbook’s suggested tab order and gather the income, expenses, withholding, and payment records it asks for.
Edit the designated input cells. Follow the color key on each sheet. Most workbooks use yellow inputs; the Side Gig kit uses light cream. Leave calculated and linked cells intact.
Review, update, and save. Read the dashboard, notes, and review flags. Refresh estimates when your income or plans change, and save your work.
Tips for a clearer result
Check the time period. Use annual estimates where requested, rather than a single month or paycheck.
Avoid double-counting. Read labels that say an amount is already included elsewhere. Cash saved for taxes is different from a payment already sent.
Enter net profit where requested. Follow the workbook’s instructions about whether the figure comes before or after its deduction calculators.
Use dropdowns and read the notes. Filing status, plan type, and other selections can change the calculation.
Save scenarios as separate copies. Compare changes without losing your original assumptions.
Bring questions to your tax professional. Use a tax-preparer handoff tab where included, along with your records and planning notes.
Downloads & access
Where is my download email?
Check the email address used at checkout, including Spam, Junk, and Promotions. Search for Taxademics or your order confirmation. If you still cannot find it, email taxhelp@taxademicstoolkits.com with your order number and checkout email address.
The download link did not seem to work on my phone. What should I do?
Try the link in your order email, then check your device’s Downloads or Files folder—the file may have saved without opening. A browser preview is not the workbook editor. Save the file and open it in a spreadsheet app, or try the email link from a computer. Contact us if the link shows an error.
What software should I use?
The toolkits are Excel workbooks (.xlsx). Use Microsoft Excel on a desktop or laptop for the most practical editing experience. Other spreadsheet apps may display formatting or handle formulas differently; compatibility with Google Sheets, Apple Numbers, and every mobile app has not been verified.
How do I open the bundle?
Save the ZIP file and extract or unzip it first. You will find six separate Excel workbooks inside. Open the toolkit that fits your current task; you do not need to complete all six.
Inputs & calculations
Which cells can I change?
Follow the legend on the current worksheet and edit only its designated inputs. Colors vary by workbook, and some sheets have their own key. Pink generally marks an item needing review. Avoid typing over formulas or linked values.
Why is an estimate blank, zero, or unexpected?
Start with missing inputs and dropdown choices. Check annual versus monthly amounts, filing status, business profit, withholding, and payments already made. Read nearby notes and review flags. If you accidentally replaced a formula, undo the edit or return to your clean original and re-enter your inputs.
Why do two toolkits give different results?
Each toolkit has a different purpose and level of detail. The Side Gig kit gives a simple reserve target. The Quarterly Planner focuses on payments and uses a manual state-tax estimate. The Self-Employed toolkit adds connected QBI, state-tax, deduction, and retirement planning. Differences in inputs, assumptions, and included calculations can change the result.
Do the bundle workbooks sync with each other?
No. They are separate Excel files. Enter and update the relevant information in each workbook you use. Within a workbook, only the cells and tabs identified as linked flow automatically.
How often should I update my workbook?
Review it at least quarterly and whenever income, withholding, expenses, or planned contributions change materially. Use the Year-End toolkit when you are comparing actions before the year closes.
Does the workbook file my taxes or send payments?
No. Taxademics provides educational planning tools. The workbooks do not file returns, send tax payments, or replace individualized tax advice. Estimates may differ from your final return or required payment amounts.
